What is an Annual Review?
Every student receiving special education services has his/her progress towards individual goals reviewed and updated annually. This meeting provides the team with an opportunity to discuss and plan for the student.

What is an Annual Review?
Every student receiving special education services has his/her progress towards individual goals reviewed and updated annually. This meeting provides the team with an opportunity to discuss and plan for the student.
Who is part of the team?
- Student
- Parent/Guardian(s)
- Special Education Teacher(s)
- General Education Teacher(s)
- Related Service Providers (Speech/Lang., Social Work, OT, etc.)
- Administration
- Private provider (if requested by parent/guardian)
What happens at this meeting?
- Each team member, including parents, provides the team with an update in the areas of Student's Strengths, Parental Educational Concerns/Input, Academic Achievement, Functional Performance, Social/Emotional Status, Speech/Language/Communication, Motor Skills, Vocational, and Other. The team discusses the student's progress and strengths/needs in each area and has the opportunity to ask questions or share concerns.
- The team creates appropriate goals and objectives to address the student’s needs.
- The team discusses which services (e.g. social work, occupational therapy, speech/language) the student should receive and how many minutes the student needs.
- The team then reviews the student’s current placement and determines if it is still appropriate for the student's strengths, needs, and goals.
- If applicable, the team reviews and updates the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
- The team also discusses areas such as state testing, extended school year services, transportation, and transition planning.
